This proposal utilises the footprint of the existing street canopy to enhance the buildings position as a corner site by extruding its cantilevered form out of the external envelope and articulating its height as it moves around the corner. This articulation in height provides a richness to the two  street elevations and steps down at either end to acknowledge its relationship to the adjoining residential built fabric. An additional lower sun screen to the shop front glazing (coupled with the signage) adds to the ‘scaling’ and cross-sectional articulation of the facades.

The richness of the modulated facade has been further enhanced, by the suggestions of the CCC planners, whereby a large window has been introduced into the upper void of the corner shop.
